~ Back from London! ~

In august, I was lucky enough to get a ticket to one of Kate Bush's concerts! :D Thursday morning, last week, my mother and I left for London. The first night we saw the Lion King musical, which gave me chills all down on my legs :3 Other than that, we've mostly been walking. In parks and streets, looking around, finding transport and places to eat and shop :) Our feet and backs have been hurting quite a bit this weekend, and I'm still pretty tired! Sitting in double-decker buses was some of the best experiences, haha ^^

St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel was beautiful.

So was this chandelier at Camden Market!

And we found Platform 9 3/4! <3

London is really overwhelming, but not quite how I expected.

I already have small symptoms of anxiety, and in the big crowds in London, not to mention the halls and lifts at the metros, it only got worse. There were SO many people! There are over 3 million more people just in London than in the whole of Norway! And that is not including the tourists :o And there were endless amounts of clothes and 'rubbish' in stores as big as villages! I am already scared of overpopulation and overconsumption in this world, and honestly, now I'm horrified. Watching, and partially participating in a nasty shopping orgie, actually made me flinch and tremble several times. I did buy new clothes, and I must admit I am ashamed of myself...

One of the places I spent money, was at the Camden Market. Here we met some familiar characters from Lewis Carroll's most beloved literary work :D.

'Everyone' has told me to go to Camden Market and I looked soo much forward to it, but it was not what I had expected it to be like at all either. It was indeed full of different stuff, quite a lot of nice stuff too, but it was too much of the same everywhere - and it was mostly bad quality products. I don't know why, but I had imagined it to be a lot more secondhand and thrifted treasures there... </3

It was nice to escape the stress, noices and crowds on a long and lovely walk in Kensington Gardens :)

One of the things I really like about London is that there are a lot of big trees there! Not only in the parks, but just about anywhere :)

There were so many squirrels, and I squeed a lot! :D

We walked along to find Princess Diana's Memorial Fountain, where we bathed our sore feet, and it felt soo good! It was really magical :)

Then we found the Peter Pan statue, and I squeed a little more :)

I got a beautiful shot of Queen Victoria outside Kensington Palace :)

The Elfin Oak was so cute! :)

Time flies, and suddenly we were back in Norway :)

We only stayed until sunday so we didn't get to do as much as we wanted, but Kate Bush was magical I am probably going back some time next year, hopefully with someone I have more common interests with :)

- Have you been to London? :)

I have been to London once, about 2-3 days and then travelled to Windsor Castle and a couple of days to Canterbury. I see what you mean, it was a bit too hectic for me as well. I usually enjoy small towns and countrysides A LOT more. We were also on our feet all day to see several sights, which was interesting and fun - but not always. When i get really tired i can't enjoy what's around me that much anymore.

I don't even remember what i liked the most about London, but i liked the parks and the supercute squirrels of course!

Next time, if you feel you have time, you can explore the countrysides and smaller towns, not too far from London :-)

Åh, London a gitt.

My friend taught over in England for two years, she hit up all the countries surrounding it and would send me post cards from each. She loved it! I admit I'm jealous, I haven't been to England yet and that's where my family is from lol. These are great pictures, I love that chandelier!!!

Annette: That sounds really nice! I would love to visit the british countryside too! :D Yes, that is a part of what it does to you... :p

Maybe I'll do that some time! Next time I am going to prioritize museums and exhibitions, like the Harry Potter Studio. And of course more musicals! According to http://www.lotr.com/, the LotR musical will have a new tour in 2015! :D I would also love to go to Oxford - to see the university and find the Alice in Wonderland shop ^_^

Ak.: Ah! Cool! Do you like it so far? :) And do you have any tips or recommendations on what to do, visit and experience there? :D

~Gaiadóttir~

02.10.2014 kl.16:14

:D http://www.irishlacemuseum.com/ <3

Ms. Ladyfair: Aw! That is so sweet :D Wow! Where do you live? Do you have anyone in England you can visit, maybe? :) I have some friends there, at least, so hopefully I can stay with them instead of a hotel, next time I'm going ^_^

Thank you! Yes, I know, right! So great and glorious! :D

I love the Elfin Oak, so magical.

London is incredibly overwhelming (I lived there for a few years and never got used to it!). You've got to tackle it in small bursts and pre-plan where you would like to go!

Camden market is sadly not at all what it used to be. The best markets for quirky and vintage things are Portobello and Spitalfields. Spitalfields is also my most favourite bit of London, you can walk around and still just get a glimpse of Old London.

~Gaiadóttir~

02.10.2014 kl.18:19

Bryony: Me too! But I wish it was placed somewhere it wouldn't have to be behind the horrible bars :/

At least now I've got a little look, and I'm prepared for a better trip next time :D I am definitely going to have a better plan then!

My mother also suggested Portobello, but sadly I was to confused in the chaos to catch it :3 Next time! :D Thank you for your recommendations! <3

~Gaiadóttir~

02.10.2014 kl.20:34

Kalypso Ellisyv: Ooh!

Min absolutte favoritt hittil er Phantom of the Opera (satt med konstante frysninger) <3

PS: Skal LotR-musikalen starte opp igjen?

I'll agree with a previous commenter that London is madly overwhelming - I've lived here for 6 years now, and I've also never gotten used to it! It makes me sad that it's the main place that tourists go to, yet it's not the prettiest or the best our country has to offer! I recommend York, Glastonbury, Bath, Cambridge and Oxford for the next time you visit, and read up on some of our traditional myths and fairytales before you come :). This is such a magical place outside of the capital <3

Ak.

04.10.2014 kl.09:19

I just moved here, but I really enjoying it so far. If I should recommand something that I liked so far, that would be (if the weather is nice) eating ice-cream from a ice-cream-truck in Hyde park <3

Fru S.

04.10.2014 kl.11:40

Åh det hadde vore kjempekoseleg! :D *krysse fingre for at den blir satt opp igjen*

~Gaiadóttir~

04.10.2014 kl.12:57

Rhiannon: It doesn't surprise me that there are so many other places in England that are many times better to experience than London, and I am sure I wouldn't get fully used to such a hectic place either :p I am definitely going to Oxford next time, and hopefully other places too! Camebridge and York :D I've really been bitten by the "travelling-bug" this year ^_^

~Gaiadóttir~

04.10.2014 kl.12:58

Ak.: I am glad you like it there! Something else would be bad :p How long are you going to live there? :D Mmm, lovely!

~Gaiadóttir~

04.10.2014 kl.12:59

Very nice photos! I've always found London very overwhelming as well, I've been there many different times but I still feel like I never get to really grasp how the city feels, if that makes sense! It has some very nice things to see though of course!

~Gaiadóttir~

13.10.2014 kl.17:25

Lindsay of Sheaves: You totally makes sense - there is something you just don't catch about London as a foreigner I guess :) Hopefully other sides of England will be better :D But there is definitely a lot of nice things and places to see! Next time I KNOW I will have a better and more adventurous trip ;)

Pyrodam

17.10.2014 kl.11:36

I've never been to London, but dreamed of it alot! I've never concidered how many people live there :O I'm socked. I would probably feel the same, overwhelmed with all the humans. But there are so many places and museums and musicals and parks I would want to visit as well. You did share lovely pictures and so much fun it must be to see the Alice group in the streets :)

~Gaiadóttir~

17.10.2014 kl.17:06

Pyrodam: I believe you would! Me too! I am definitely going back to explore and experience more of the nice things and places :)

Thank you! I felt I had too few photos of uninteresting things, but I believe it was good enough! ^_^

Yes! We saw them when we got of our bus, and thought "We are definitely following them!" :D
